Indoor gardens

Do you fancy yourself a Mr. or Mrs. Green Thumb? A few well placed house plants can help remove toxins in the air inside your home and make home an easier place to breathe.  As a home renovation company in Perth, we do many garden renovations, bedroom renovations and kitchen renovations where we are asked to include spaces for plants.  We love this! Including plants in your renovation is a great way to bring the outside in.

Reference the chart below to see which little cuties can help out your air.  A check in the appropriate chemical box indicates this plant removes that chemical from indoor air. A check in the Pet Toxicity column indicates that this plant is toxic to dogs and/or cats. A single check under H2O lets you know that this plant doesn’t require a lot of water and should dry between watering. Two checks indicate that you should keep the soil most. Three and well, you’ve got a drinker on your hands! Watch the soil, don’t allow it to dry and if at all possible mist between watering.

As a note to pet owners, you can accomplish removing the toxins from your air with a few well-placed hanging Boston Fern Plants and some appropriately placed Gerbera Daisies, even any of the Palm varieties noted, leaving the remaining plants to everyone else.

Special Plant Notes:

The Ficus Tree is native to Southeast Asia. It can grow to 3 meters. Make sure you have room!
The Peace Lily all though small in size, probably one of the smallest on this list is a power-house for toxin removal. Remember, good things come in small packages!
The Snake Plant is also known by a few brave men as Mother-In-Law’s Tongue! Shhh…we’re not telling!!
The Bamboo Palm can grow to almost 4 meters!! Make sure you have space! Garden renovations are all about space planning and as far as home builders in Perth are concerned, we have the experts here ready to work on your garden renovation, general home renovation, bedroom renovation or bathroom renovation. Just let us know you want to “green-up” that space and we’ll get right to it!

Aloe Vera is one of our favorites and here’s why:  The clear liquid inside its plump green leaves is power packed with vitamins, enzymes and even amino acids among other compounds that all promote wound healing! Keep this baby in the kitchen! Think minor skin burns and abrasions.  Did we mention that it is also has both anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties as well? Why this little honey may even help skin conditions like Psoriasis and Eczema. It certainly won’t hurt!  Just remember to keep this out of reach of your pets!   Aloe Vera is often found in kitchens, so when we do your kitchen renovation, make sure you let us know where you want to keep your Aloe Vera plant! As your go-to renovation company in Perth, we aim to please!

Allergy sufferers, please check with your allergist as plants do produce pollen and we wouldn’t want to clear up the air just to have you sneezing from the pollen!  Now, are you inspired?  We are! Just grab some pretty containers and head to your local nursery or better yet, let one of our designers talk to you about both your indoor and outdoor garden spaces. Here at Unique Residence we are a full-service solution provider!
