CLIENT PROJECT BRIEF:
Transform and modernise the backyard into a unique and functional alfresco space to suit the lifestyle of the family. Our scope of work also extended to include the design and construction of a new garage, driveway, front garden and entrance.
WHAT WE DID:
Our work on this project included:
• Planning and design
• Site preparation
• Council permits
• Plumbing, gas and electrical works
• Drainage and stormwater
• Demolition of the patio and garage roofs
• Construction of the rendered brick garage
• Tiling of the garage roof
• Restoration of the house roof to match the garage
• Vaulting plasterboard ceilings to alfresco area
• Installing a built-in barbecue and tiled splashback
• Laying travertine paving to entertaining area
• Laying the exposed aggregate across the driveway and entry to the home
• Painting the renovated areas and existing house
In the garage, we needed to maximise the area to accommodate two cars and storage space. To minimise costs for our client, one of the challenges was to design, plan and construct the garage without requiring piling or engineering footings for water corporation easement, which we successfully achieved.
We also had to carefully manage our works and communicate effectively with Council to ensure we were within the guidelines of their Green Initiatives policy.
The paving on the driveway extended onto Council land and they have very specific rules and regulations with regard to approved materials.
We managed this process and liaised closely with Council to ensure our client’s entire driveway would look consistent and could be laid with exposed aggregate.
The overall transformation has created the perfect living and entertaining areas, so our clients can get the most out of their space.
The renovated backyard has added a new dynamic to our clients’ home. The result is an attractive new area for the family to relax and entertain at any time of the year, as well as play spaces for their youngest child to enjoy.
The vaulted ceiling is a unique design feature and provides height to the outdoor space and the installation of the built-in BBQ makes casual family dinners and entertaining easy.
The new garage has made a huge difference to the appearance of the home, easy access to the cars from the house and provided additional storage.
The clean render and earthy tones of the garage are complemented by the Holcim Grevillea driveway, which provides an attractive and low maintenance entry to the home.

We are so happy with the results of this renovation and it has made the world of difference to our home.
The alfresco area is a favourite family spot which caters for all of us including our young child and teenager. It’s a really warm and inviting space which brings us all together and we absolutely love entertaining and using our outdoor BBQ.
The convenience and appearance of our new driveway, entrance and garage is brilliant and Adam has done a fantastic job of integrating these new areas into our existing home.
